The kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is one of Europe's most spectacular, yet elusive, birds.  A flash of brilliant electric blue as it flies away to a nearby perch is all most of us can hope for, but here we see an explosion of water, as a magnificent kingfisher triumphantly takes to the air after a successful dive.

This original pencil drawing was made with Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran d'Ache Luminance pencils on Fabriano Artistico Hot Pressed Watercolour paper, unframed.
