A path winds invitingly through wildflowers to a viewpoint above the beautiful Lauterbrunnen valley amid the snow-capped mountains of the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. Mist hangs in the valley to be burned off by the warmth of the sun.
A visit to the area in 1911 was later to prove the inspiration for the enchanted valley of Rivendell in JRR Tolkien's writings.
